Costs of cruises in Rotterdam more than 9 times higher than its benefits

Bauke Visser, Professor of Micro-economics and decision procesess at Erasmus School of Economics, calculated the economic costs and economic benefits of cruises to Rotterdam. Economic net benefits for the Rotterdam Rijnmond region are €60.000 per call, he estimates. However, the average public health damage due to air pollution, is more than 9 times higher:  €550.000 per call. The main question is: should a city still welcome such big polluting cruise ships?
